Report: Obama brings chilling effect on journalism

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. government's aggressive prosecution of leaks and efforts to control information are having a chilling effect on journalists and government whistle-blowers, according to a report released Thursday on U.S. press freedoms under the Obama administration.

The Committee to Protect Journalists conducted its first examination of U.S. press freedoms amid the Obama administration's unprecedented number of prosecutions of government sources and seizures of journalists' records. Usually the group focuses on advocating for press freedoms abroad.

Leonard Downie Jr., a former executive editor of The Washington Post, wrote the 30-page analysis entitled "The Obama Administration and the Press." The report notes President Barack Obama came into office pledging an open, transparent government after criticizing the Bush administration's secrecy, "but he has fallen short of his promise."

"In the Obama administration's Washington, government officials are increasingly afraid to talk to the press," wrote Downie, now a journalism professor at Arizona State University. "The administration's war on leaks and other efforts to control information are the most aggressive I've seen since the Nixon administration, when I was one of the editors involved in The Washington Post's investigation of Watergate."

The spirit of secession, the desire of peoples to sever ties to nations to which they have belonged for generations, sometimes for centuries, and to seek out their own kind, is a spreading phenomenon.
Scotland is moving toward a referendum on independence from England, three centuries after the Acts of Union. Catalonia pushes to be free of Madrid. Milanese and Venetians see themselves as a European people apart from Sicilians, Neapolitans and Romans.
Dutch-speaking Flanders wants to cut loose of French-speaking Wallonia in Belgium. Francophone Quebec, with immigrants from Asia and the Third World tilting the balance in favor of union, appears to have lost its historic moment to secede from Canada.

I Guess I Just Don't Understand

we have a president who is abusing the presidential office and ignoring the constitution he has sworn to protect, he is attacking the individual states and the individual, he ignores the balance of power our framers set up he is far and away the worse president we have ever had, he has destroyed our economy, he has put millions out of work
and what pisses us off enough to get us off our asses?????? we can't visit our national parks......OK I understand needing to have our national parks and they do belong to the people but damn!!! you will put up with a president who is militarizing our neighborhoods but won't put up with the park rangers being militarized???? ok I just don't understand. you will put up with a president who wipes his ass with the constitution but won't put up with the outhouses in the parks being closed????? ok I just don't understand. you have the teachers in your local schools teaching your kids how to be good Nazi's but you won't put up with your kids not getting to visit the Grand Canyon????? ok I just don't understand. you are ok with blacks attacking and lynching white people but don't want your veterans being blocked from their memorial????? ok I just don't understand

The list goes on and on and I don't understand. Maybe I have it wrong, maybe these things are the "last straw". Maybe everyone has really been paying attention and they finally decided this president has finally gone one step too far????? Maybe there are finally enough people laid off who really want a job and a real future and they are finally getting their shit together and doing something besides laying around sucking on the government teet?????

I guess in the end I don't care what the final straw was that woke up the people of this country, I just hope and pray that they don't open the parks and put the people back to sleep.

Your president hates you and the country your parents built and you are standing around feeling sorry for yourself instead of getting off your asses and parking on the national mall until somebody stops him.

I hate to say this, we don't deserve to be free, and any blood shed as a result of our sorry asses not to have done something before this is a terrible tragedy. What have we created here????? what is wrong with everyone???? bought off by 150.00 dollars a month for food stamps and an Obama phone????

it gets stuck in my throat to think about it, we are disgusting creatures of the worst kind with lousy character. and patriotism?????

Russian GRU Warns: Obama Preparing to Declare ‘Insurrection’, Implement martial law

A highly troubling “urgent bulletin” issued earlier today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) states that it has received information from the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) warning to expect a “radical change” in the government of the United States, possibly within the next fortnight, based on information they have received from “highly placed” sources within the Pentagon.
According to this MoFA bulletin, GRU intelligence assests were notified by their Pentagon counterparts this past week that President Barack Obama is preparing to invoke the powers given to him under 50 USC Chapter 13 to hold that various American States are now in a “state of insurrection” thus allowing him to invoke the National Emergencies Act under 50 USC § 1621 and invoke the highly controversial “continuity of government” plan for the United States allowing him, in essence, to rule with supreme powers.
Specifically, this bulletin says, Obama will invoke 50 USC § 212 that states: “ the President shall have declared by proclamation that the laws of the United States are opposed, and the execution thereof obstructed, bycombinations too powerful to be suppressed by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings”
The specific laws being opposed by these “combinations too powerful to be suppressed by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings,” that Obama will outline in his reasoning’s for declaring a state of emergency, this bulletin continues, are the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act(PPACA), otherwise known as Obamacare.
The NDAA is opposed by many US States, this bulletin says, with California joining Alaska and Virginia this past week in passing a law making it illegal to be enforced in their territory, and with many other States, also, preparing to do the same.
The specific portions of the NDAA law being opposed by these US States allows for the indefinite detention without charges or trial of all American citizens and allows for their assassination should Obama order it.
The PPACA (Obamacare) law is, likewise, opposed by over half of the US States and has led to an American “shutdown” this past week that has closed 15% of their government, but has left fully 85% of it still open.
To the specific “combinations too powerful” Obama will cite in his declaration of National Emergency as being needed to be defeated by extraordinary measures, the MoFA says, is a faction of the US House of Representatives popularly known as the Republican Tea Party whom the President and his allies have likened to “hostage takers” and “political terrorists.”

While I can’t swear to the veracity of this (or any) claim by foreign parties, it does indeed sound like a plausible course of action for the pResident to be considering, in light of the massive resistance being raised against his many usurpations and acts of destruction against Liberty.

7 October 2013: Since arriving on the national stage, many educated people have compared Barack Hussein Obama to Abraham Lincoln in glowing terms. Obama himself has an interesting, if not peculiar, love affair with the nation’s 16th president. From quoting Lincoln to emulating his historic activities, such his 2007 speech on the steps of the Springfield Capitol and his 2009 train ride to history, Obama seems to have embraced and even assumed the persona of Lincoln.  There is one problem, however, by those who continue to elevate Obama to ‘Lincoln status,’ and for Obama himself. They are correct, but not for the reasons they promote. Meanwhile, Americans might be watching history preparing to be repeated, which does not bode well for the United States – the Union, or Obama – the man.   Full story
